Strange works of art

Onni Laine is a self-taught artist who creates strange works of art without traditional ideals of beauty. His art stems from combining everyday objects and momentary inspiration, which makes working fast and spontaneous. For Onni, the more important thing than visuals when creating a work is its insight and originality, with which he wants to speak to the viewer.

The inspiration is the wonder evoked by the work

Onni Laine’s work is driven by a passion for creativity and a desire to surprise both himself and the viewers of his works. Although the school’s photography skill grade has always been a perfect ten, Onni does not feel it is deserved. This tells about his modest attitude towards his own work. Onni does not strive to make things traditionally beautiful or neat, but distinctively strange and ready-made from its own point of view.

According to Onni, the ideas for the works often arise from encounters with everyday objects. He combines things in his mind, and if an idea arouses strong enough enthusiasm, it must be implemented quickly. When the work feels ready, it is also ready. According to Onni, his patience is not enough to finish the works very much, which may be reflected in the appearance of the works.

Onni Laine’s art begins in her own basement, which offers a quiet and private environment for creativity and experimentation. This space is like its own world, where Onni can easily escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse herself in making art without distractions.
